MP3s have become one of the most popular ways to store music. I've ripped (Converted to MP3 format) all of my CDs to MP3, and I have a very respectable amount. No, you can't have any because of legalities. After all, Big Brother (yours, mine, whoever's) is watching.
I think everyone will agree that it's the size of the MP3 format, coupled with the quality of sound, that have made it such a big hit. Napster helped, and it's been followed by many other copycats. Whether or not Recording Companies like it, it's here to stay. They can adapt or become financial oil for the masses... (dinosaurs, get it?) The fact is that they should have already adapted. Power to the consumer!
There's a lot of information on MP3s out there, and this area will become quite a resource for the MP3 afficionado. The MP3 Audiophile. You. Links to stuff... Maybe even some crosslinking to my Software Development area in the future. I'm working on some stuff here and there that may be useful. So... There's the potential for Freeware/Shareware as well. We'll see.
Why do I love MP3s? Simple. 10 hours of music on one CD. I've snuck up to 12 hours on a CD, but that included some less complex MP3s. I have it with me almost all the time - and now my father wants one. An example is right here (Bookmark it!!) - I bought the NAPA first generation MP3/CD player a year ago (March 2001) - it's already on the third generation - and they have an indash MP3 CD player now as well (cranking 180W!!). Cheap. Easy. Don't have a CD burner? Get one! Or, as a gift, send me the in dash one :D
Planned things here include information on the MP3 standard, as well as resources for people like me. People who like MP3s, and want to maximize them. Sorry - there's no downloading of music here, and there's nothing that can get you or me in trouble. I know that may be boring, but....there's enough of that on the Internet, LOL.
