The first model I ever built was that of a Rotary Engine - and it made so much sense to me in the way that it worked. Engines with crankshafts took a little longer for me to understand. To date, I think it is one of the best engine designs ever, with a great power to weight ratio.
It's also a very misunderstood engine, because many people are so used to dealing with piston engines that something like a rotary seems very complicated. It really isn't... and it's been around quite a while. I'll be pulling resources in here as I find them and as I have time, so that it becomes a little less alien.
After all, good things should be known about! :)
